The water pumped from the ground in Juggowala is bitter and cannot be used for drinking or cooking. The residents who could afford, bought potable water (but unfiltered) from a truck that came by. Others just drank the water pumped from the ground.
With the cooperation of boys school principal, Mr. Amjad Khan, the foundation expanded the capacity of the filter in boys school and provided access outside the school walls for general public. Any water that accidently fell, was collected back in a pipe and used to water the school garden.
Minutes after the water was opened, people lined up, coming on motorcycles from nearby village with their containers and taking water home. This project was so popular, that the foundation decided to expand the project and consider installing a large capacity filtration plant in the future.
